I Love my Family..

We are an Anomaly
We break all the rules
There are nine kids, five boys, four girls
We all were/are homeschooled
four of us are "true" redheads
three of us are left handed

AND! We all like each other.

I am not sure people know what to do with us,
we are loud, opinionated, competitive and love to laugh
we have no problems picking on each other, we are always making fun of someone... Well I take that back typically I am the one everyone picks on. It is just how things are.

We love old Hollywood movies, Broadway, The Beatles (Mom used to sing Beatles songs to us at night instead of lullaby's) reading anything and everything, My Mom reads aloud to us and does all the voices. We are eccentric to say the least.

We don't follow any of the rules (but in a good kindof way) Mommi and Daddy always taught us to ask questions, why do we do things the way we do? is it just because everyone says we should? Follow your heart, do what you love... it isn't about money or "the American Dream" it is about loving people and living a full life. We have as many friends my parents age as we do our own... we are definitly NOT socially ackward. maybe a little slow... but that is just because we soak everything in.

We don't have a problem speaking our minds, and are ALWAYS in each other's business.
And seriously we hardly go anywhere without each other.
there is always a pack of us around.

We have Decided you either Love us and think we are one of the coolest families ever,
or you can't stand us.
But we really don't care, Cause at the end of the day we have each other.

  1. Ok, I read this earlier and I cried. I've come back to comment and I am crying.

Thank you. I can't tell you how much it means to me to read this. Kim and I talked yesterday again about knowing why we are doing what we are doing ... parenting, homeschooling ... and above all, I know that I want you all to be sure of who you are, to love others deeply and to live life well.

You are a shining example of that ... even now when the uncertainties are screaming at you ... read these words again, read your post about what you have learned this last three months. You are a beautiful person and I am SO proud to call you my daughter!

  2. well, I read this and then came back to comment. As you are quite aware, I am one of those in the "Love-you-guys" camp.
There are so many things I love about you all, including the ones you listed above. I love how close all of the siblings are to each other, and how very different each individual is in the family. In such a large group, it's possible for someone to get lost in the middle, but each of you is so unique that it could never happen! I love how you include me in your family when I barge my way in! I love the fun occasions you create for yourselves, like the Oscar Party. I love family traditions, and your family is rife with fun traditions.
I love that your mom is commenting on all of your blog entries. I love that your mom is super duper cool and I can have a deep conversation with her about life, or have a not-so-deep conversation with her about Ryan Gosling. :)
To sum it up: If there was a movie about your family (and there should be), I would buy that movie and watch it every night while I fell asleep. True story.
